Mercedes SLS AMG F1 Safety Car

So, there you have it. This year's SL 63 AMG will say goodbye to the great circle, and be replaced by the Gullwing.

The SLS, which is expected to hit the US market in April next year, is powered by a 6.2l V8 engine, developing 571 horsepower (420 kW) at 6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 650 Nm at 4,750 rpm. The unit is paired with a new AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, offering the choice of four different driving modes: "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport), "S " (Sport plus) or "M" (Manual) along with a RACESTART function.

As was the case with the SL63 AMG, the Gullwing will also receive tweaks here and there, because despite its incredible performance levels, being on an F1 track is not quite the same as cruising on the Autobahn (even if the SLS will not race per se).

Optimizations will be brought to the car's suspensions, brakes, and so on. As usual, will we will learn more about the F1-spec SLS when the official announcement is made.

i dont know why they dont use one of last years F1 cars, it would keep the tyre temps up for the drivers, i know its not a slow car, but compared to the f1 cars its like first gear for them lol :mg:
